Scope and content

Letter from Edward Churton to his grandson Ralph [W.R. Inge]

He was very much pleased with Ralph's letter. He dare say the Newfoundland dogs were very fine but he liked Mr Nile quite as well and he hope Ralph would not forget Nile and Charlie. It was pleasant in fine weather to build sandcastles and wished he could be there to see. He supposes Sophy helps.

He sent Ralph the first primrose from the Rectory garden. It was little and grew in a sheltered place near the Terrace. He hoped others would follow. It was cold yesterday and there were showers of snow. Today the snow was gone and it was bright sunshine.

There is a pen and ink drawing of the dogs Nile and Charlie [not clear if it was included with the letter].
