Scope and content
Letter from Edward Churton to his grandson Ralph [W.R. Inge] and his grand-daughter Sophy .
Was sending three Crayke snowdrops – one for Ralph, one for Sophy and one for Edward. Said they should put the flower to Edward's nose not mouth incase he should try and eat it [he was a baby]. They were the first Crayke snowdrops to come up and asks if there were earlier ones in Bournemouth. The violets would come soon.
He had heard an old goose or young gosling out with a gun last night trying to shoot his little friend the owl. He did not think he hit the owl.
Includes a pen and ink drawing of the goose out with a gun at night.
