Scope and content

Letter from Edward Churton to his grandson Ralph [W.R. Inge].

Thanks him for his nice letter. On several nights last week a funny little owl sat in the ivy bush in front of his study window and hooted to him. Supposed he was very cold and hungry. Doesn't know if he found any mice to eat and hopes the owl did not eat the robins, tom-tits, or jenny wrens. [includes a drawing of the owl]. Says there are 130 different kinds of birds in Cleveland. Once they shot an eagle which had a wing span of 6 feet ten inches.
