The print comes from the Thesaurus Veteris et Novi Testamenti, a collection of groups of prints by different designers and engravers published together by Gerard de Jode in Antwerp in 1585.

Text in a flower border also in the lower margin: "Haec nox illa exopta [...] in Crucis ligno consummata."

MS annotations on the verso of the print in the hand of John Ferrar: "8", "8" and "The Sheppard To Christ & [Cercimision?]" (archaic spelling of circumcision).
