This album contains the engraved portraits and autographs of chiefly of British aristocratic and political figures from the 19th century. Many of the items are undated, therefore the date range of the album is taken from items which can be dated to a specific year.

Album binding description: 19th century autograph album, full-bound in red leather with gilt armorial stamp with motto ‘Science et conscience” and central figure which also appear in the bookplate of Jean-Sylvain Van de Weyer. Six raised bands with spine decorations in gilt. Letting in gilt on spine: “AUTOGRAPHS I PORTRAITS”. Roll tooled border decorations in gilt on upper and lower boards. Triple fillet decoration in gilt on board edges. Roll tooled decorations in gilt on turn-ins. All edges gilt.
