Archival history
Simon Barrington-Ward kept a large quantity of material as a personal archive. In 2016 his daughter, Helen (now the Revd Helen Orr), had it evaluated by Philip Saunders, Archivist of the Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide, at Westminster College, Cambridge. He selected the following:
(1) papers about Nigeria and mission work generally including his appointment at Crowther Hall, Selly Oak, and tours as General Secretary of the Church Mission Society, notably letters to his wife, Dr Jean Barrington-Ward
(2) papers about African religion and continuing involvement with overseas outreach (eg, Coventry relationship with Dresden)
In retirement, SB-W began to file his sermons by theme, and record some on disk, but the hand-written originals were retained.
Further records are in the Church Mission Society Archives at the University of Birmingham (Cadbury Research Library)
