'Stewards Book 1782' is written on the front cover.

Contains weekly accounts for members of College.

Gives a list of members of the College in order of seniority - Master, Fellows, Pensioners, and Sizars. Next to each name is the amount owed under the headings: Buttery, Commons, Gates, Punishments, and sometimes the name of a festival.

At the bottom of the page are totals for:
Pane, Portus, Poor, Prom
Coals, Intro, Poor, Punishments

There is also a total for Gates at the bottom of each page

There are further accounts for all members of College for items including:
Chamber Rent, Utensils, Cook, Catechist, H. Lecturer, G. Lecturer, and Tables

At the back of the book are lists of names and amounts under the headings:
Commencement Money, Feast Money, Problems, College Incomes, and Cautions

There are some loose sheets including:

(1) A list of vegetables sent, 26 March 1819 (6 Jerusalem Artichokes, 2 red beet, 12 purple broccoli, 6 white broccoli, 1 bus. Brussel sprouts, 36 carrots, 24 celery, herbs, horseradish, basil, mint, water cress, 12 leeks, 6 cabbage lettuce, 6 cos lettuce, 36 onions, 24 green onions, 24 parsnips, 24 salsify, 12 scorzonera, sea kale, 1/2 bus. spinach, 36 turnips, 200 asparagus, 100 French beans, 2 cucumbers

(2) 10th week Gate bill listing dates in February , name and time they arrived back in College

(3) A menu for a dinner held on 21 February 1819 which included a purée of vegetables, fish, roast turkey and sausages, mutton cutlets, veal with a celery sauce, beef, pheasant, apple tart, and strawberry cream

(4) Proposed Regulations for an improvement in the Examinations for Degrees - 31 March 1819 [printed]

(5) An undated petition to 'your honourable bench' from the inhabitants of the parish of Chesterton in favour of Richard Papworth the occupier of the public house known by the sign of the Feny [?] House whose licence had been suspended because he had 'in advisedly allowed persons to remain in his house at improper hours'. They did not believe he would transgress again and pledged themselves for his good behaviour. It is signed by John Bingham Wiles, Robert Sparrow (Overseer), John Wagg, Thomas Grunden, William Johnson (Constable), John Thrift (Constable), Thomas Riddel [cook of Magdalene College, 1799-1826], Jeffery Coy, Chapman Phypers, William Wragg (Overseer), and G.A. Browne (Vicar)
