The Stewards' books contain weekly accounts for members of College. Each volume contains a list of members of the College in order of seniority - Master and Fellows, Fellow Commoners, scholars, and sizars. Next to each name is the amount owed.

At various dates different payments are included. In the College Order Book [MCGB/4/2/1] it states that the items of catechist, utensils, cook, candles and lamps, and scavenger which had been omitted since 1783 should again be included in the Steward's Book.

On the cover is written:
“Magdalene College Steward. Wilfred A. Gill Steward of Magdalene College [the name has been crossed through and replaced with A.S. Ramsey – Ramsey was appointed Steward in 1900] Nov. 1896 to Oct. 1902”

The accounts are set out slightly differently and in a different hand to the previous two volumes [MCAD/14/1/2/1-2].
Revd Samuel Lowe was Steward.

Thee are separate accounts for each Fellow giving the date and the amount paid to the Mr Lowe (the Steward) but with few further details.
