  • 9 Sept – marriage of Bobby [Robert Davies-Colley and Emily at All Saints, Bryanstone Square. They were married by Ralph [Charlewood Turner]
  • Hugh was living in a little pink house in Woking with his gramophone and driving his motor car around to visit patients
  • The family had left Westfield after 11 years and moved to a house on Clapton Common
  • Ralph is his father’s Chaplain and secretary and also curate in charge of St Andrew’s, Undershaft
  • Margaret has shown her devotion to the suffrage cause by going to prison for a month
  • Henry has taken a house at Streatham in which he lives with a friend. He rents some of his rooms as club rooms to the Emmanuel College Mission. He spends his time in working for the Queen Victoria Institute for which he is secretary, and also for the Emmanuel College Mission which he is starting
  • Arthur will take up the duties of Junior Dean of Trinity
  • Hilda had completed her four years at Lady Margaret Hall
  • Ruth had become secretary of the Barnes Mission Association
  • George will be Head of Marlborough next term
  • Bobby took his M.C. degree and Harry and Bobby their M.A. degrees in the Autumn of 1908
  • Hilda took an Honours degree in History in July

  • Glad to welcome new members of the family:
    Peter Thomas – born 28 June at East Pennard
    Theodora – born 5 August at Congleton
  • Bobby [Robert Davies-Colley] was now on the staff of Guy’s Hospital. He has consulting rooms and is starting practice “the outward sign of which is that he must never be seen in South London without a frock coat and top hat”.
  • Aunt Mab was in Bath for a few weeks for treatment.
  • Arthur is in Strasburg studying Theology together with the habits and language of the German people.
  • Francis ought to be at W. Parry’s School but is prevented by the whoops
  • 23 Nov – Dr Eleanor passed her final examinations for London M.B.B.S.
