On the first page is a copy of a letter from the Duke of Norfolk (Visitor) to the Master and Fellows, 24 January 1565.

Frank Salter wrote that these statutes were found when Miss Springall tidied up the Archives. He believed they were the original version of the statutes but had been altered and added to these being the 'corrections and reformations' to which the Duke of Norfolk referred to in his letter of 1564, the text of which is copied into the bound volume. All of these strengthened the Master's authority.
