George Charlewood Turner was a pupil, Housemaster, and eventually Master at Marlborough College, Wiltshire. George won the top Foundation Scholarship at Marlborough College. He went from being Master at Marlborough, from 1926 - 1939, to being the Principal of Makerere College, Uganda, from 1939-1946, where he taught President Nyerere. He eventually became Headmaster of Charterhouse for five years, serving afterwards as Chairman of the Governing Body.
